CONCEPT
Ocean, wind, SAILS – all bring us to the destination we choose. Soft natural curves of sails as a contrast to contrast buildings. Seeing that cold brutal concrete structure, that at first might seem to be not that welcoming, just like a cliff in the ocean, but getting closer you might see an inviting flickering light. Inside so bright, inviting warm textures and materials, soft, calming shapes. With the help of this concept I was trying to create welcoming atmosphere for the travelers and artists in my hotel.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT
The idea was to create an art hotel out of old silo tanks in Alameda, CA. It was important to create an unforgettable experience through development of different kinds of spaces. As I chose to focus on music and filmmaking as a focal art sphere, it was important to add some functions to my building where artists can create their work and perform it as well. I my design I’ve decided to have main vertical axis – focal point, everything else is just supporting it. Along that axis visitors may experience tree main spaces: courtyard, amphitheater and atrium with hanging art piece that is created out of acoustic panels
